Overview

The fourth and largest round of Bihar school teacher recruitment.

BPSC published Advertisement No. 15/2026 on 22 September 2026 for the fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination, TRE 4.0, under Bihar's Education Department. It cancels and replaces Advertisement No. 14/2026 of 18 August 2026. Applications opened on 25 September and close on 26 October 2026, with fees payable until 25 October.

The advertisement covers 32,388 posts. A corrigendum of 29 September 2026 added 932 more — 493 at secondary level and 439 at senior secondary — taking the total to 33,320.

Each level is split by subject and category, with 35% of posts reserved horizontally for women domiciled in Bihar (50% at primary and middle level), plus posts for transgender candidates and dependants of freedom fighters. Starting pay is ₹25,000 at primary level and ₹28,000 at middle level, with state allowances.

A teaching qualification and the matching TET or STET.

The minimum age is 18 for primary and middle level and 21 for secondary and senior secondary.

Application fee

₹100 for each level you apply to.

The fee is ₹100 per class-level application, so applying at two levels costs ₹200. Candidates without Aadhaar authentication pay a further ₹200 biometric fee, and bank charges apply on top.

Exam pattern

150 questions, 150 marks, with a qualifying language section.

  • 150 objective multiple-choice questions for 150 marks.
  • Two hours, or two and a half hours at primary level.
  • One-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The language section is qualifying: you must score at least 30% in it, and those marks do not count towards merit.

The exam may run in phases

BPSC has said the examination may be held in more than one phase if applications cross five lakh, which would mean normalised scores across sittings.
