Uttar Pradesh's largest teaching recruitment in years, with the exam already dated.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission published Advertisement No. 05/2026 on 15 September 2026 for 12,405 Assistant Teacher posts at primary level — 11,508 in urban primary schools under the Basic Education Department, and 897 in aided primary schools under the Secondary Education Department.
Applications opened on 16 September 2026, the fee can be paid until 15 October, and the written exam is set for 3 and 4 December 2026.

Two sets of posts, one exam
Urban primary posts are government schools; the 897 aided-primary posts are in grant-aided schools and are split between boys' and girls' institutions. The advertisement gives the district-wise and category-wise tables for both.

Eligibility
Graduation, a recognised teacher-training qualification and TET.
- A bachelor's degree from a recognised Indian university.
- A teacher-training qualification: B.T.C., Biennial B.T.C. (Urdu), Special B.T.C., a two-year diploma in special education, or a four-year B.El.Ed., or another qualification the NCTE recognises for primary teaching.
- A pass in the Teacher Eligibility Test for Classes 1 to 5.
Age (as on 1 July 2026)
21 to 40 years for the urban primary posts. SC, ST and OBC candidates domiciled in Uttar Pradesh get five years' relaxation, and candidates with benchmark disabilities fifteen years. The aided-primary posts follow their own rule, with a minimum age of 21.

₹1,000, less for reserved categories.

Exam pattern
120 questions worth three marks each, with a penalty for errors.
- 120 objective multiple-choice questions, 360 marks in all, in two hours.
- Three marks for each correct answer.
- One mark deducted for a wrong answer, and for marking more than one option.
- The paper is bilingual, in Hindi and English.
Selection is on written marks, followed by document verification and a medical examination. The syllabus is in the advertisement.
